Aaron Coleman is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Arizona in the United States. His work in printmaking, primarily focuses on sociopolitical issues regarding race and identity. He combines imagery from comic books and stained-glass windows to raise questions concerning misconstrued belief systems and twisted moral values in our society. Coleman’s background in hip-hop culture and street art remains as a major influence in his fine art practices. Coleman has participated in international residencies and exhibitions and received numerous awards for his work in printmaking, sculpture, and installation. His work can be found in the collections of the Janet Turner Print Museum, the Ino-cho Paper Museum, The Yekaterinburg Museum of Art, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, and the Artist Printmaker/Photographer Research Archive at Texas Tech University, among others.
