ONE OF TWO KNOWN IMPRESSIONS OF THIS WONDERFUL PRINT, executed in 1929, the artist’s most important year. (There was an unsigned restrike edition in 1963, in the book “Eloge de Dunoyer de Segonzac”.)
From Dunoyer de Segonzac’s personal collection: THIS IS THE IMPRESSION REPRODUCED in Lioré & Cailler’s catalogue raisonné (vol. II, no. 271).*
Shortly after it was photographed for the catalogue raisonné, Dunoyer presented it to LISE ELINA, a former actress who, as a journalist, interviewed cultural personalities.
Copiously inscribed by the artist. Justified “épreuve d’essai / inédite” and signed in full TWICE.
ON FINE HANDMADE PAPER. IN PERFECT CONDITION.
*It is recognizable as the impression reproduced in the catalogue raisonné because there is a scarcely-visible diagonal fiber in the paper near the woman’s left heel in both the print and the reproduction.
