The most iconic and collectible from Warhol’s highly regarded Cowboys and Indians portfolio, John Wayne is an original screenprint in colors on Lenox Museum Board, and is signed by the artist and numbered in pencil. Measuring 36 x 36 in. (91.4 x 91.4 cm), unframed, it is from the edition of 250 + 50 AP published by Gaultney, Klineman Art, Inc., New York, with their inkstamp on the reverse, and printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York, with his blindstamp. This work is designated as FS.II.377 in the artist’s catalogue raisonne.
