Arty-Fact: Kitsune (狐, キツネ, IPA: [kitsɯne]) is the Japanese word for “fox”. Foxes are a common subject of Japanese folklore. Stories depict foxes as intelligent beings, possessing paranormal abilities that increase with age and wisdom. According to Yōkai folklore, all foxes have the ability to shapeshift into human form. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others – as foxes in folklore often do – other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, lovers and wives.
Kitsune is another chapter of ‘L’amour Vaincra!’ – a story of love and creativity by Anthea Missy. First and foremost, Anthea is a graffiti and street artist who spreads love and happiness on many walls using her unique style to engage people with significant social themes. L’amour Vaincra! is about people, unity, couples, friendship, hope and the endless quest for identity.
