Brian Andrew Whiteley is a Brooklyn based performance artist. In March of 2016, on Easter Sunday, he placed a granite tombstone he had made for Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump in NYC’s Central Park with an epitaph that read ‘Made America Hate Again.’ It was quickly impounded by the police but not before going viral on social media. Whiteley was tracked down and questioned by the police, FBI and Secret Service but was not arrested. The tombstone was returned to the artist in July 2016 and placed in a storage facility in Queen, NY. The artist and master printer James Stroud are producing an original edition of tombstone rubbings taken directly from the stone using pigmented wax and Japanese paper.
