1864-1919
Born in Breddin (Germany), his family emigrated to America when he was a boy. He studied in Chicago School of Design and under Frederic Rondel in New York, was a member of New York Etching Club, ANA 1906, American Watercolor Society and was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Design. From 1904 until his death he taught there as a chief Instructor in etching.
