Christian Flamm’s edition is titled N°12 and is based on the design of the 12th object in his series Actual Books. For this series, the artist creates hand-drawn dust jackets wrapped around empty books. In this instance, the edition relates to a repeating motif of coloured geometric shapes that has been used in graphics for many centuries. Flamm draws attention to such design elements which might sometimes be overlooked, often hinting at a personal narrative related to his own situation and experiences. N°12 includes an embossed element in place of the signature – a CF logo based on the artists initials – derived from the pretzel shape common to his home region of Swabia in Germany. Several of the sculptures from Flamm’s Actual Books will be on display at the Room&Book.
