Model handmade by Christo
Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s projects in public spaces have fascinated an audience of millions. In order to visualize the project in the preparation phase, Christo made models of them on a smaller scale. Christo’s models and sculptures as limited editions are a rarity.
Here we present one such limited edition model. Christo created it during the planning process for the project in Kassel: At the Kassel documenta 4 in 1968, Christo and Jeanne-Claude designed an 85-meter high aerial sculpture (“5,600 Cubicmeter Package”); the 170 cm high model illustrates both the form of this sculpture and its effect in space and its materiality. This limited edition object can be assembled and disassembled and is surrounded by a surface of green fabric. A rare collector’s item!
