Damien Hirst, born in 1965, emerged as a prominent artist in the late 1980s and 1990s, notably as a Young British Artist and Turner Prize winner. Challenging artistic and market norms, he sold over 200 pieces directly to the public in a 2008 Sotheby’s auction, earning £111 million. Hirst’s thought-provoking works explore life, death, and religion, featuring animals in formaldehyde and the diamond-encrusted human skull “For The Love Of God” adorned with 8,601 diamonds.
