Aqua Fria was created Dan Rizzie in 1994 for the Flatbed Portfolio I, a group of nine etchings by nine different artists. This important etching is a chine collé, a la poupee etching combining aquatint techniques including spit bite and sugar lift. Rizzie, whose work abstractly creates a time stamp of the time created, applied drypoint scrape marks to the surface of one of the plates.
