Born in Oslo, Norway, Danny Larsen’s paintings emulate the dark beauty and historic landscapes of Scandinavia.
Prior to becoming a full time artist, Larsen had an extensive career as a professional snowboarder, travelling and performing worldwide whilst creating digital content for the industry. He has worked on numerous collaborations with renowned brands including Etnies, Spy Optic, K2, and a recent a signature clothing collection for the Norwegian metal band, Satyricon.
As Larsen’s focus shifted from snowboarding to visual art, his early illustrative style became more embedded in the natural landscape and Norwegian folklore. His exquisitely detailed penmanship depicts dark and atmospheric scenes of rural Norway, evoking a spiritual, ghostly tranquility.
Larsen has exhibited internationally in Paris, London and Austria, often alongside fellow former snowboarder and close friend Schoph. He has a close partnership with the Michelin starred restaurant Maaemo in Oslo, and has been commissioned to produce paintings and various designs for the establishment.
In 2019 Larsen and Schoph exhibited in Oslo as part of the duo-exhibition 'Head Heart Hand', which was a homecoming for the artist.
Larsen lives and works in his native Norway.
