A VERY RARE LITHOGRAPHIC POSTER by the greatest caricaturist of the second half of the 20th century, best remembered for his work in the New York Review of Books.
The Davis Gallery sent out this poster, folded three times and addressed on the back, to promote LEVINE’S VERY FIRST GALLERY EXHIBITION. This particular example is addressed (APPARENTLY IN LEVINE’S HAND) to GEORGE T. DELACORTE (1894-1991), founder of Dell Publishing and the Delacorte Theater in Central Park (to say nothing of the charming sculptures based on “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Tempest”, and “Romeo and Juliet”.
Printed on buff laid paper.
In excellent condition, with the fold lines barely visible.
EXTREMELY RARE.
