Lithograph on wove paper, full margins. Published by Associated American Artists, New York. An edition presumably of 250 (the print is very rare and perhaps the edition was incomplete). Signed and titled in pencil.

Doris Lee created an oil painting of Thanksgiving in 1935, now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, and it is her most celebrated subject.  The lithograph emphasises the importance of family and community, with multiple generations working together to prepare the feast. It reflects an idealised vision of simple rural family life during the Depression years.  Doris Lee brings attention to the essential, often unnoticed labor of women in the household, making them central figures in the composition.
