A superb impression from the series of twelve Paysages et Intérieurs (plus cover), a series debuted in February 1899 by Ambroise Vollard at his gallery on the rue Laffitte, Paris.
According to Roger-Marx, one of the two men depicted here is the writer Tristan Bernard (1866 – 1947). The young woman observing the game is the famous Misia Natanson (1872 – 1950) also known as Misia Sert.
