Compiègne: Aux depens de la Société des Bibliophiles de Provence, 1937.
A GORGEOUS LIVRE D’ARTISTE.
Two texts by Bosco (“Le Serpent” appears here in first edition) illustrated with 25 ORIGINAL HORS-TEXTE LITHOGRAPHS (and an additional double-page lithograph on the wraps) BY EDY-LEGRAND, one of the great book artists of the 20th century.
Edition limited to 150 numbered copies, beautifully printed on fine BFK Rives wove paper.
A UNIQUE COPY, with a second suite of the 25 lithographs on Imperial Japan paper (one of only 10 printed), the preliminary drawing for one of the lithographs, and the maquette for the cover (comprising two signed drawings).
All three of the drawings are finely executed in pen and ink wash, and show interesting differences when contrasted with the lithographs.
