Original lithograph, one of four editioned at the Curwen Print Studio with master lithographer Stanley Jones which formed part of the Curwen edition of Aesop’s Fables. Note we have two more of these original lithographs as well as several of the watercolours specially created and reproduced for the book as well. It was intended that these original lithographs were to be signed, but many were not…this is one that is. Elisabeth’s biographer wrote of the images produced for this book ‘They were exquisite…. an excellent outlet for Lis’s love of graphics…beautiful drawings: the superlatives run out….the drawings and watercolours looked as though they had been straight on to the page, so excellent was the printing’.

Very good condition unframed and unmounted but there is some toning to the very edge of the work which could be mounted out if felt appropriate. This is reflected in the pricing. Printed on Zerkall Butten paper and published by Alistair McAlpine Publishing and Leslie Waddington Prints Ltd. We also have an unsigned copy which is in excellent condition if preferred.
