Containing all 19 stunning etchings which accompany the ‘Canterbury Tales‘, published in 1972 by the Waddington Gallery, each printed on Barcham Green hand made paper. Introduction by Nevill Coghill, text and justification, signed and numbered in black ink on the last page by Elisabeth Frink. This is from the boxed unbound edition, this example numbered c.120.The text and prints are loose in an impressive green canvas box with embossed gold design of an eagle specially designed by Frink. The box has some very slight marking and is missing one of its ribbon ties but is otherwise perfect. The prints are in amazing condition. Each print is very fresh and bright. Please note that none of the prints are signed, as issued, but the colophon page is splendidly signed by Frink

The Artist

Elisabeth Frink

Dame Elisabeth Frink was born in 1930 in Suffolk, England. She is known for her sculpting and printmaking. From 1946-1949 she studied at the Guildford School of Arts and then at the Chelsea School of Art from 1949 to 1953. Frink’s subject manner in her earlier pieces include birds, men, horses and religious motifs. She very rarely designed pictures or sculptures of the female form.
