Plant studies have been a favourite subject of the artist since she began making etchings regularly at Glasgow Print Studio in the 1980s. Although best known for her delicate depictions of orchids, in recent years she has produced etchings and screenprints of poppies, passionflowers and gladioli. Both mediums are well matched to the fluidity and delicacy of the watercolour paintings she often uses as a beginning point for her prints. This is a five colour etching printed from three copper plates. The flowers shown are irises, a lily and tulips.
This work features are part of the 40/40 suite of prints, created in 2013 celebrating Glasgow Print Studio’s 40 years in existence. 40 artists associated with Glasgow Print Studio were invited to make editions of 40 prints in whatever print medium they chose.
