Francisco Farreras was born in Barcelone in 1927, key figure of the abstract avantgarde of the second half on the 20th century. His work is characterized by the volumetric play and the phisicality of the worked piece, sobriety, formal refinement, austere chromaticism and incorporation of materials: sewn fabrics or ropes. His highlights are collages, coudrages, wooden reliefs or engravings. His work is present in museums and collections: Reina Sofia Madrid, Tate Gallery London, Juan March Foundation or Guggenheim New York.
