Sinjerli Variations Squared with Colored Grounds is an extension of the Sinjerli Variations of 1977. Impressions of the Sinjerli Variations reserved for the artist’s use were developed into a new series. They were guillotined to square the paper and center the circular configurations, as were the motifs in Polar Co-ordinates for Ronnie Peterson, Stella’s previous series published by Petersburg Press. The centered circular form would have a long life in the prints, reappearing in The Waves, Swan Engravings, Imaginary Places II, Imaginary Places III, Near East Monoprints, and, most especially, in Juam and Juam, State I.

The Artist
