From the Six Triumphs of Petrarch. Landau posits a connection between the frieze-like compositions of Pencz’s Triumphs and the monochrome decorations then fashionable on Roman house facades, where the horizontal architectural constraints made processions and triumphs an appropriate theme.
A brilliant, rich impression, trimmed on the platemark all round. Inconspicuous small repairs in the upper right corner, a thin lower right corner, generally in very good condition. With hand-corrections to two letters in the inscription, as are also visible in Landau’s illustrated example.
