Giorgio Ghisi was an Italian printmaker and engraver from Mantua in Italy who also worked in Antwerp and in France. He made both prints and damascened metalwork, although only two surviving examples of the latter are known. Ghisi was a reproductive engraver, basing his works on paintings by other artists although he often elaborated backgrounds with landscapes of his own invention, and added lavish foliage.
