The Charms of Lincolnshire

(Red Version)

By Grayson Perry

Created for Grayson Perry’s 2006 exhibition “The Charms of Lincolnshire” at Victoria Miro Gallery, this printed tea towel complements the artist’s exploration of themes like death, childhood, religion, folk art, and the feminine.

The exhibition featured Perry’s own works—dolls, vases, plates, an embroidered sampler—and historic artifacts from Lincolnshire’s museums. The tea towel showcases objects from the exhibit against the backdrop of Lincoln Cathedral, with phallic fungi in the foreground, capturing the essence of Perry’s multidimensional narrative poem exploring the complexities of life and culture.

Red screenprint on cloth tea towel.

Released in 2006.
