A key figure in the history of Latin American art, Guillermo Kuitca (b. 1961, Buenos Aires, Argentina) has exhibited extensively around the world. He explores themes of dislocation and the intersection of public and private spaces through works, ranging from early paintings of theatrical scenes to complex abstractions, which reference maps and architectural plans. Major solo exhibitions include retrospectives at Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico, Whitechapel Gallery, London, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, MALBA, Buenos Aires, and a mid-career retrospective organized by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo and the Miami Art Museum, Florida.
