Artwork description
Coleman’s imagery celebrates nature alongside an underlying preoccupation with human behaviour, responses and memory. Her use of certain repeated motifs and marks throughout her practice hint at the examination of nature in close-up; water and foliage are often suggested in works which have a sense of ‘ordered chaos’ about them. Chine Collé, a collage technique which uses thin pieces of Japanese paper, adds a further subtle dimension to the monochrome palette of this print.
