Russell notes an impression in the Biblioth̬que Nationale with the background apparently lightly sketched in. This present impression therefore would be a 2nd state. However, the present very rare impression appears to be the earliest complete one and could be described as a 1st state. The Nancy catalogue of 1992, notes that the 2nd state always carries the inscription of: Matteo Rosselli inv. РIacopo Callot inc., not found in this impression. Thus, according to the Nancy catalogue, this would confirm our description of this impression as a 1st state.
