Edition by Art Edition-Fils
This new work by Jan Kolata is a diptych! The artist has only created 20 copies. Together, the two parts of the picture form a large format measuring 1.4 meters wide.
The principle of the diptych creates tension in the picture. A striking asymmetrical diamond of pink and light blue binds the two halves of the picture together in the middle and draws the eye. However, the eye finally leaves the center and searches both parts of the picture for their structures, connections and differences.
Jan Kolata plays with shapes and colors in this screen print. Organic, stencil-like forms and undulating shapes made of lines are combined with triangular forms. This contrast of shapes makes the picture look very lively. The colors are also rich in contrast, sometimes matt, sometimes radiant, ranging from a dark grey-green to a bright pink.
This new diptych by Jan Kolata simply has power!
