Working en plein aire, and from sketches, photographs and memories, American painter and printmaker Jane McNichol makes transcendent landscapes, still lives and domestic scenes. Her degrees from Tyler and Temple Universities, a stint at sea in the Merchant Marines and a year spent painting in Rome were important formative experiences. McNichol is a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant recipient and a Macdowell Fellow. She divides her time between studios in New York City and coastal Maine.
