A fascinating glimpse into Miró’s artistic methods. For this print, he took a drypoint plate from “L’issue dérobée” (1974, Dupin 689), reduced the right side, reworked it, and rotated it 90 degrees before printing it. He then overprinted it with the aquatint plate from his print for “Monument à Christoph Colomb” (1968-1971, Dupin 478), which he reworked and then printed with colors different from those used in the earlier print. He then added embossing (from L’Issu dérobée”, again.) The result is this wonderful creation.
