A small (if unusual!) edition size. Titled, numbered and signed verso in pencil by the artist. Printed at the Curwen Studio on Somerset paper by Mary Dalton, with the Curwen blind stamp in the bottom margin. This print was made during the artist’s residency funded by a Josef Herman Foundation bursary… a blitz of artwork was produced in just a five day period. This print provides a twist in that Adam is the source of original sin, not Eve. Unframed.
“I invert the tale, so that Adam commits the ‘original sin’ (that of enjoying apples) and Eve is absolved. Adam is listening to the serpent (who god made to tempt us, in UK law this would be entrapment) and eating the apple whislt Eve is absolved. Religious imagery without the religion, basically a scenario in which the characters play the usual role but with an unexpected twist.” John Abell.
