LA based artist John Baldessari is one of the most influential artists of his generation having been at the vanguard of conceptual art since the 1960’s with his witty and ironic works using painting, photography, film, found objects and sign-writing. With a wry and mocking humour he contemplates and comments on the processes of art production, language versus mass-media and the nature of perception.
Born in the USA in1931, Baldessari has exhibited at MOMA New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; Tate Modern, London; Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Spain; Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago; the Venice Biennale; Modern Art Oxford; Guggenheim Bilbao; ICA, London; Lisson Gallery, London and Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles.
