Artwork description
Rippling water acquires ethereal beauty in a work John Mackechnie RSA made in his studio in 2003.
It’s based on his own photographs of the island of Menorca, and is one of the original water-themed images that’s led to an extensive series Mackechnie calls ‘studies’.
Mackechnie is one of the UK’s foremost artist printmakers, creating editions of original prints in various media since the 1960s.
Public collections to hold Mackechnie’s work include those of the Scottish Arts Council; the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow; the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; the Norrköping Art Museum, Sweden; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
