Scotney Castle V (Levinson 347) by the celebrated British artist John Piper is one of six signed etchings, published in 1982 in an edition of 50 portfolios of the same name (Scotney castle, Kent) by Kelpra Editions. The print is signed by the artist and numbered 3/50. John Piper’s style is a unique combination of a romantic portrayal of English heritage and a commitment to the modern and abstract movements that were emerging while he was at art school. His style is dramatic and bold, combining rich passages of colour, calligraphic line and experimental textures with a unique freedom of expression.
