THE ONLY KNOWN EXAMPLE OF AN UNRECORDED POSTER, INCORPORATING AN ORIGINAL ETCHING (with aquatint) FROM 1950.
INSCRIBED BY FRIEDLAENDER TO WENDELIN NIEDLICH, PROPRIETOR OF NIEDLICHS BÜCHERDIENST (and sponsor of the event).
Friedlaender first etched the plate in 1950 and printed a few proofs (see Schmücking 65). In 1965 he reworked the plate extensively and issued a few more proofs. Also in 1965 he used the same plate for the poster offered here (“Jonny [sic] Friedlaender in niedlichs bücherdienst eggert märz 1965”). He used the plate for another poster in 1968 (Schmücking 474).
Printed on extremely fine wove paper.
Signed by the artist.
In perfect condition.
Of the greatest rarity, possibly unique.
