Jonas Wood (b. 1977) has very quickly established himself as one of the hottest artists in the contemporary art world, with fantastical landscapes trapped within the borders of potted plants.
Working from a large archive of photographs, Wood combines and then flattens the world around him to show an intimate perspective of modern life. Inspired by the work of David Hockney, John Baldessari, Lucian Freud, Alex Katz, and his wife’s ceramics (Shio Kusaka) the artist crafts colorful cut-out style scenes evoking his predecessors’ work.
In this print, a lush potted plant sprouting perforated leaves vibrates with energy. Bright white fills the punctures balancing the plant and the pot’s landscape through color. The quiet garden scene locked within the borders of the pot comes from Jonas Wood’s earlier work Green Landscape Pot with Orchid created in 2014. The print is available, unframed and in mint condition. It is sold with the original publisher’s packaging. Please contact the gallery with any questions.
