Ode to a Chestnut on the Ground by Pablo Neruda, translated into English by Margaret Sayers Peden, is published in the form of a leporello. The poem is accompanied with three original mezzotints and embossments by Judith Rothchild printed on Hahnemülhe paper. Numbered and signed on the colophon by the artist. Edition of 50. Size: 20.3 x 12 cm.
The mezzotints, embossments and screen prints on the covers were printed by the artist. The hand-set letterpress in Univers was printed on an Adana 8″ x 5″ by Mark Lintott who also made the slipcases and boxes.
Numbers one to ten, the deluxe edition (1/50 to 10/50), are presented in clamshell boxes with an additional mezzotint. The first four include one of the original copper plates. Numbers 11/50 to 50/50 are presented in slipcases. Number 50/50 is reserved for the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
