The Artist

Kadar Brock

In this limited edition from the series ‘’Pocket Graphology’’, Kadar Brock decided to scan the thin plastic sheet of his iPhone screen protector, to capture the scourings from years of use. Like much of Brock’s work, this print is a result of incidental residue created by over-processing, as opposed to the artist’s application of a mark. His popular, large-scale abstract paintings made by sanding and layering paint are worn down, scraped over and literally full of holes, creating the absence of the artist’s hand. Kadar cites the issue of technology companies capturing our gestures as data to be trademarked. We’re excited to see such a seemingly simple idea come to fruition in print as a smart record of our contemporary paradigm.
