Acrylic paint over etching on paper. This unique work on paper is a drawing over one of several proofs from a print series Petley made at Manneken Press in 2013. She revisited the proofs in 2020, adding color and imagery over and adjacent to the printed image with acrylic paint, graphite and colored pencil.
Kate Petley is an American abstract painter whose work addresses the subtleties of location and atmosphere, specifically of her home in the mountainous regions of Colorado. In her paintings and prints Petley conveys psychologically charged space using layered images with multiple references, color, vividly enhanced marks, and dramatic compositions.
