Kiki Smith was an artist in residence at Pilchuk Glass School in the summer of 1993. At the end of each session there is an auction of artists and students art work with proceeds to benefit the school. This piece was created during the residency.

Kiki Smith is an American artist born in Germany 1954. She is a pre-eminent figure in the artistic movement that unites the human condition the natural world. Working across a range of media including photography, drawing, printing and painting, she has explored explores self-portraiture, anatomy and female iconography. Her Feminist art is concerned with the cultural and political roles of women. Her images are often disturbing depictions of the human body.
