People Standing About

By LS Lowry

People Standing About is a lithograph that features Lowry’s distinctive figures in an everyday setting. Lowry is an extremely celebrated artist and this print is a rare example based on his original watercolour painting capturing people going about their lives in a more vibrant colour palette with a close view that draws the viewer in, and an industrial setting gently created in the background to emphasise the perspective.

Published by Penrose Fine Arts International, 1972 in a limited edition print of 500.

Singed in pencil by Lowry.

34 x 50 cm.

Laurence Stephen Lowry (1887-1976), an English artist renowned for his matchstick men scenes, depicted urban landscapes and later coastal scenes. Initially declining honors, he gained recognition with solo shows and exhibited at prestigious venues like the Royal Academy.
