The vibrantly colored aerosol work on paper entitled ‘Paris in the Spring’ was created in 2022 by contemporary artist Logan Hicks as a limited edition series. The work captures a brilliant transition of light at what could be interpreted as sunrise or sunset for the viewer, both being a magical time of day filled with golden rays of sun. The Eiffel Tower stands in the distance along a crowded street view colored in dark turquoise and deep cobalts. This work is signed by the artist and is finished with a minimalist black frame for timeless appeal. Logan Hicks, born 1971, is a New York-based artist known for his photorealistic stenciled paintings of nature. Studying at the Maryland Institute of Contemporary Art in the early 1990s, Hicks moved to California to align with the Low Brow movement of the 90s, and then relocated to Brooklyn in 2007 to continue his fine art. Over the years, Hicks has developed his impeccable photorealistic style using stencils, sometimes using up to fifteen layers to achieve this precision. Utilizing the old masters approach to lighting, Hicks sculpts ordinary landscape scenery into deeply metaphorical and contemplative imagery through stenciled aerosol. During the summer of 2021, Logan Hicks made history as he created the largest stenciled mural in the world, located in New York at the East River Plaza in Harlem.
