Arty-Fact: Many of Markus’ subjects have tended to explore their darker side with photographers; it was the opposite with Mary J Blige. In the past she had a rougher persona and she was now looking to project an image that represented her ultimate happiness and spirituality after overcoming struggles of the past.
“Mary J. Blige, The Club” is from her photoshoot with Markus for her eighth studio album, Growing Pains, the follow up to her chart-topping 2005 LP, The Breakthrough.
