One of the most innovative and influential American artist, Mel Bochner employs the most common of materials – pen-and-ink, diagrams, black tape, stones and pennies – and incorporates them into simple symbol systems – measurements, counting, combinations of prepositions, series of short phrases – leading the viewer to question how simple things can
reveal the complexity of our relationships to the world.
