A Livre de Artiste housed in a hand-made portfolio consisting of a suite of seven fine art prints created by Michael Ray Charles at Flatbed Press using a combination of color lithography, aquatint etching, collage, and blind embossment. Included in the portfolio are three letterpress pages: title page, Meta DuEwa’s poem, Crown of Thorns: Amaranthine, A Bitmap Bouquet, and a colophon page signed and numbered by the artist.
The completed suites (except for printers’ proofs) are housed in handmade boxes designed by Charles and created by Jace Graf of Cloverleaf Studios. Each box has an embedded upside-down penny on the lid at the lower right corner. The prints and pages of the portfolio measure 21” x 16” and are printed on 300 gsm Fabriano Artistico watercolor paper in a numbered edition of 24.
