Michail Pirgelis, born in 1976 in Essen, grew up in Xanthi, Greece. Studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Rosemarie Trockel. Pirgelis has been awarded the Art Cologne Prize, the Adolf Loos Prize and the Villa Romana Prize. His works can be found in numerous public and private collections, the Braunsfelder Family Collection, Cologne, the Joe Nahmad Contemporary Art LLC, New York, the Rubell Family Collection, Miami, the Collection of Contemporary Art of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf.
