Natalie d'Arbeloff Biography

Natalie d’Arbeloff was born in Paris of a French mother and Russian father. She has lived in London since the mid-1960s. Her art education was in Paris, New York, Mexico and London. Solo exhibitions include: Travers Gallery, London 1970. Belgravia Gallery, London 1973. Museum of Fine Arts, Colorado Springs 1980. Bertram Rota, London 1985. Victoria & Albert Museum National Art Library 1990.Rijksmuseum Meermanno-Westreenianum, The Hague 1992. Museo del Barro, Asuncion, Paraguay 2002, and numerous group exhibitions internationally.

She started NdA Press, her one-person private press, in 1974 to produce hand-printed very limited editions or one-of-a-kind bookworks using etching or other techniques, bringing together her interests in printmaking, writing, painting and three-dimensional media. Her bookworks are in major private and public collections internationally including: Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Library, the National Library of Wales, the National Library of Australia, the Library of Congress, Washington D.C., Houghton Library, Harvard, Bridwell Library, Dallas, Biblioteca Nazionale, Rome, Herzog-August Bibliothek, Germany, Kunstgewerbe Museum, Frankfurt, Rijksmuseum Meermanno-Westreenianum, The Hague, Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, and many others.

She taught for many years in adult art education in London at the Camden Arts Centre, the City Lit and the Stanhope Institute. She was visiting artist at Colorado College, Colorado Springs and conducted workshops in printmaking and book arts at American and European colleges. Her teaching books are: An Artist’s Workbook (Studio Vista/Van Nostrand Reinhold); Designing With Natural Forms (Batsford/Watson-Guptill); Creating in Collage (Studio Vista/Watson-Guptill).
