Nick Satinover is an American artist working in print media and collaborative print/performance. Using memory as a map and experience as the magnetic pull on the needle, Satinover navigates through the convolution space, place and time. His images are an atlas providing information and a guide to making sense of new physical experiences in a search for true North. Acknowledging that the past is at work in the present, and the presence of an author is a subjective filter, Satinover folds it all together using phrases, notes, observations and reflections presented in visual, textual or audible forms, revealing a series of ambivalent statements that reflect the complexity of being: past and present, internal and external, evocative and open, critical yet non-judgmental, personal and universal.
Nick Satinover has exhibited in solo and group shows across the United States. He has been artist-in-residence at the Frans Masereel Centrum, Belgium; Kala Art Institute, Berkeley; the Tofte Lake Center, Ely, MN; and the MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA. He lives and works near Nashville, TN.
