Norman Ackroyd RA made frequent visits to Charleston Farmhouse between 1978 and 1983, at a time when the house had been neglected for many years, seemingly a time capsule of earlier decades.
Ackroyd was fascinated by the densely overgrown gardens around the house which he describes as a ‘true secret garden’. He captures the essence of this lost but not forgotten memory in this characteristically atmospheric etching.
