Above all, Olafur Eliasson is known for bleeding the creative and the scientific. His work, usually sculptures and large-scale installation pieces employ elemental materials such as light, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer’s experience and create dialogue between the urban and organic worlds. Interested above all in the composition and anatomy of the nature, he established Studio Olafur Eliasson in Berlin, a laboratory for spatial research, in 1995. Today, the studio comprises a large team of craftsmen, architects, archivists, researchers, administrators, cooks, programmers, art historians, and specialised technicians. Eliasson’s appreciation for the analytic and the scientific has created a precise whose ultimate goal is to explore the relevance of art in the world at large.
Like so much of his most loved work, this print invites the viewer to explore the forms of coexistence by welcoming different perspective: in this case, the human and the non-human; culture and nature. An exclusive edition titled “Herbarium”, it is made from specially processed, dried and pressed Nympheas Ellisiana water lilies.
