Pau Roig (in Spanish, “Pablo Roig”).
Cirque.
Paris: Sagot, 1906-1911.
AN EXTREMELY RARE SET, WITH A SUITE IN BLACK ON IMPERIAL JAPAN PAPER, OF THIS CHARMING COLLECTION OF LITHOGRAPHS DEVOTED TO THE CIRCUS.
According to all sources, 120 sets were printed, all in color: 100 on wove paper and 20 on Japan.
A complete set comprises 20 lithographs. The set I offer comprises only 17 lithographs, but each (except one) is present in two states: in color (on wove paper) and in black and white (on Japan), and thus there are 33 lithographs in all.
All of the lithographs are signed in the plate by Roig. THERE IS NO RECORD OF ANY UNCOLORED PRINTS ON JAPAN PAPER, or indeed on any paper.
Large folio. FINE AND BRIGHT, WITH NO DEFECTS. Rare and important.
Price for the set of 33 lithographs: 1450 euros.
Price per lithograph, if bought individually: 95 euros.
